Dance was once part of every visit to Bakken — couples swirling under the trees, live music, bright summer evenings.

Together with Dyrehavsbakken, we brought that tradition back with Asfaltbal: one full day of open-air dance, for every generation.

The afternoon belonged to the families — a children's asfaltbal with workshops, performances and everyone on the floor. By evening, the Friluftsscenen had transformed: long tables, street food, live music and dance shows, with our instructors drawing guests out of their seats and into the ball. No dress code, no steps required.

Three generations of our own family led the day — hosting, teaching and performing side by side. Because that's how this tradition began: people dancing together, not watching from the sidelines.
